Automating weather data retrieval entails maintaining a collection of scripts, cron jobs, and monitoring tools. dwdown dashboard consolidates these into a single orchestration platform for DWD NWP and MOSMIX forecast data. It:

  • schedules and performs forecast downloads;
  • uploads files to S3 storage and verifies them;
  • detects missing or corrupted data;
  • recovers from common failures (network errors, interrupted jobs, failed uploads);
  • monitors storage usage and pipeline health;
  • issues alerts when intervention is required.

Built on dwdown, it provides a web interface for running weather data pipelines without manual intervention in the normal case.
