SeFuSe update: new features following user feedback

Discussions with researchers, colleagues, and technology transfer staff identified several concrete requirements.

Requirements raised

  • Combining semantic search with traditional keyword search
  • Covering more funding databases beyond the German federal one
  • Alerting users to new funding opportunities based on saved project ideas

Changes in this release

  • Hybrid search is live: SeFuSe now combines dense-vector retrieval with BM25 keyword matching, scored as a weighted convex combination of the two.
  • Broader funding coverage: alongside the German federal funding programmes, SeFuSe now also covers opportunities from the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
  • User management and authentication: a prerequisite for saved project ideas. Alerts for new funding opportunities are not part of this release, but they remain on the roadmap.
